About Mr. Ragan
The Valley-Edinburg Bands & Choirs are under the direction of Mr. Steve Ragan. He is in his 35th year of teaching and his 4th year directing the V-E Music Ensembles. His duties include directing the Concert Band, Concert Choir, JH Band, JH Choir, 4th-6th Grade Bands 4-8th General Music and instrumental & vocal lessons as time permits. Mr. Ragan earned his Bachelors of Science in Composite Music Education from Valley City State University in 1987 and has completed advanced coursework from UND, NDSU, Minot State and the University of Mary. He is a past member of the Grand Forks Master Chorale and past member of the Minnesota Music Educators Association Board representing Region 8. Mr. Ragan is a member of NEA, NDEA, ACDA, NAfME (formerly MENC) and is an active adjudicator. Steve is married to his wife of 32 years, Connie, and they have three children – Michael, Marie and Jessica – and 4 grandchildren – Joseph, Emilie, Luke and Eva – and their cat Spock. In his free time, Mr. Ragan loves spending time with his family, watching baseball (Go Cubs!), football (Go Rams!) and hockey (Go Sioux!), cooking – whether it be in the kitchen, on the grill, Blackstone or smoker, gardening; as well as listening to music.
